Obituary of Susan Amelia Foster
SUSAN AMELIA FOSTER
April 26, 1944 - May 7, 2023
Susan passed away on Sunday, at home on her family’s farm. She was surrounded by her loved ones and her devoted cat Snap; winding up a lengthy and difficult struggle with PCA, a rare and debilitating dementia.
Susan was predeceased by her partner, Toronto hockey legend Carl Brewer (2001) and her parents, Newton (1974) and Dorothy (1985) Foster of Highland Creek, Ontario.
Susan leaves behind a legacy of kindness, loyalty, dedication, generosity and love which will be carried with honour by her loving family - daughter Melanie (Will), son Daniel (Sarah) and her grandchildren, Angeline, Marshal, Foster and Hannah. Sue could brighten anyone’s day with her radiant smile and positive energy and will be dearly missed!
Her dedication to the service of others will be remembered with reverence. She worked diligently over the years, assisting retired NHL hockey players retrieve misappropriated pension funds; her investigative efforts were a significant contribution to the Superior Court convictions of one corrupt R Alan Eagleson, of fraud, embezzlement and racketeering.
She was also a gourmet cook and baker, with a flair for French country cuisine. Her passion for travel led her to many parts of the world and she loved the variety of culture everywhere she went. France (the language, cuisine and all of the countryside) held a special place in her heart. She met and made lifelong friends everywhere she went.
Many thanks to all of the nurses and caregivers who have assisted with Susan’s care over the last several years: staff of Country Estates Lindsay, Susan Lough, Rose Porter, Debbie Colton, Leanne, Jen, Holly and others from hospice. Your assistance and compassion were invaluable.
The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (just south of Davisville) on Thursday, May 18th for fellowship beginning at 1:00 p.m., the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., and a reception after the service.
