Elaine, Ray and family
I was so sad to hear about James. I always remember him as being such a sweet, kind and sensitive boy. I can still see him sitting on the curb waiting for Matt and Scott to come out after school to play. I also remember him as a teenager publicly speaking at his grandparents memorial - he was so poised. As an adult, he never hesitated to stop and have a brief chat with me if we saw each other on the street. What a terrible loss for you and the world.
Your former neighbour, Mary Lepage

We fondly remember James visiting the cabin in Algonquin Park; first as about a 12-year-old boy, and later as a young man. Also saw him later when he was staying at his Uncle Tom's.
James always struck us as a sensitive and caring person, with a ready and engaging smile. We offer our condolences to his family and friends.
We, too, will miss his presence.
Scott and Julia

I was so saddened to learn that James had passed away. I met James around 2004 through a mutual friend and we became fast friends, spending lots of time together with friends and hanging out just the two of us. James had such a big heart and such a silly mischievous smile, he loved poking fun at his friends in a playful way. I remember how much he loved his family dog Shadow. James was wise beyond his years in many ways and was always somewhat of an old soul. He never stopped trying to to better himself throughout all the years that he struggled. I got to see James in the last few years since the pandemic while he was in recovery, and he was giving it 110% and truly wanted to win this battle. James was a good person, a loving, kind, caring and sensitive person. He will be truly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him and seeing his beautiful smile and big blue eyes. Love you, James. Rest in peace.

I first met James when he came out to work for me as a grip green and cocky as we all know! Many years Later I found myself in a bad place and was on a long stay at CAM-H Finally with a one hour pass I had enough time to hit an AA meeting and who was there at the door cocky and sober with his hand out greeting strangers with a smile and love. At that moment there was no one in the world I wanted to be more!!!! James did what so many people are afraid of attacked his problems head on and helped others with theirs like Myself and many others

James and I first met working at Production Services together in the summer of 2006. James was 16 and I was 19 and we had many a laughs and good times working together. In an odd twist of fate James and I would cross paths again 10 years later. My first grip call with IATSE 873 was with James. He took me under his wing and taught me many things, most memorable was how to skin a 4x4 frame, and emphasized that it has to be tight like a drum! He kept me working as a permit whenever he could. Always willing to share and teach.
James was a beautiful and loving human with a big heart and I will truly miss him. Thank you for your kindness, teaching, and compassion. Much loveZ

Deeply deeply sorry for your loss. I met with James a week before his passing, I am surprised. James was making sure I was OK, even though he wasn’t. He tried his best to be his best self in front of me, making sure he wasn’t disappointing me at all. Far from that, he was making sure I was OK. I was making sure he was OK, a very selfless act of James, wow. We had coffee and hanged out for three hours and talked. Went to a Park hug the tree we spoke of stuff and things. He seem good, smiling, laughing with me. I remember the smile he gave me. It could light up the sky.I to my memory, James was slowly ready to begin again. To start a new refresh take baby steps ready to begin again. I am so sorry for your loss. I’m sorry we all lost James. James loss is not all for but nothing, it’s what we now do with that. I’m happy to have known James . I will see you at the memorial.

James was my neighbor growing up and a friend in my childhood.
He was the ring leader of our street, he'd knock on doors and get kids out to play tag, hide and seek, street hockey, water gun fights or other games. In summer time we'd get sun burnt and dirty kneed going home for dinner or out of exhaustion. In winter, running up the hills to slide down into the street below or making snow forts for epic battles on our adjoining lawn.
He was a confident guy who knew how to get the street's kids together even when years separated the oldest from the youngest.
As we grew up and out of childhood we grew apart. While I don't think I've spent time or even talked with James in nearly 20 years I will always remember him and be thankful for his childhood friendship.

I didn't know James well, we lived in the same building on the same floor. I knew he was struggling, as he told me in a candid moment when we walked down the street together one day. Whenever I saw him I would ask how he was doing and he would give a big smile and say "good". I last saw him about a week or so ago as he was going into his apartment and he seemed happy.....I'm so sorry his friends and family lost this young man with the bright smile and incredible red hair.

Though I did not know James well, I'll never forget the first time formally meeting him. We live in the same building and one evening I went to down to use our communal gym and I could see James through the glass door, dancing while listening to some music on his headphones in between his workout. When I walked in, we both started laughing having caught him in the moment and he said something to the effect of, "when the music's good, you just gotta move," to which I wholeheartedly agreed. We will miss James' smile and presence in our community here. Our deepest condolences to all those who knew and loved him. - Ryan, Mishelle and Bowie Albert
