Ed and I worked together at the Ministry of Finance for many years. Ed knew every government program, its business and its accounting. Public servants from across government would call Ed and ask him, "Ed, have you ever heard of...?" And Ed would know, and he would almost always be able to help fix a problem or achieve an objective simply and well. Ed was aware of his "go-to-guy" reputation across the breadth of the Ontario Public Service, and he was justly proud of it. Worklife, performing well and with integrity, meant a great deal to Ed, and I know how much he enjoyed himself at work and working with people.
Ed and I enjoyed more than a few lunches and after-work pints over the years. He was a thoughtful and kind colleague; his sense of humour lively and quick. I valued and enjoyed my time with Ed, and shall remember him with warmth and fondness.
