Obituary of Ronald C. Brown

RONALD C. BROWN
June 12, 1929 - February 5, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ron. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 69 years, Mary (Bowyer), his children Christine (Dean Anderson) and Rob (Fran) of Toronto, and Ian (Carolyn) of Victoria, B.C. He was a much loved Grampa to Lindsay, Leigh, Matthew, Allison, Carter, Christopher, Amelia and Samantha. He will also be missed by his twin brother, Ross, his sister-in-law, Anne, his sister, Joyce Ledingham, his daughter-in-law, Otti, and so many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Marion, Helen, and Dot.

Ron was born in Sarnia, Ontario, to Vern and Hilda Brown. One of six kids, he spent his childhood in Stratford and Hamilton. He attended McMaster University, where he met his future wife Mary.

He continued on to Osgoode Hall Law School before joining Blake, Cassels and Graydon, where he had a successful career in corporate and commercial law. He was hardworking, highly respected and treated everyone he encountered with incredible compassion and respect. Ron and Mary lived and raised their family in the wonderful community of Leaside.

Ron loved his family, friends, co-workers, and neighbours and he always made time for everyone. Ron loved spending time on Georgian Bay, and later at their farm near Hillsdale. He and Mary enjoyed travelling together, golfing at Donalda Club, curling, bridge, the theatre and symphony, and time with their friends and family. In spite of his declining health, Dad remained positive and good natured. He received unbelievable care from Dr. Jocelyn Charles and her team at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, who we can’t thank enough. We are also grateful for his many caregivers at Briton House, and especially for Salve.

A celebration of life will be held Monday, May 1 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at The Donalda Club.

If desired, donations may be made to the Sunnybrook Foundation. Condolences may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.
