William (Bill) Kemp

Obituary of William (Bill) Ross Kemp

Bill passed away peacefully, at his residence, Belmont House, on January 27, 2023, after a courageous battle with dementia.  He leaves his partner of 40 years, Wayne Young.

Predeceased by his parents, William (Ross) Kemp, Marguerite Kemp-Edmondson, and James (Jim) Edmondson; brother David, sister Joan Ryan; great-niece Laura Babcock; and niece Karen Campbell.

Bill is survived by his brother-in-law Dr. Don Ryan and family, Art Young, Linda Young and her son Robbie, and son-in-law Dan Campbell.

He will be greatly missed by his cherished and best friend, Mendy Pavelich, as well as many cousins and very dear friends.

A dedicated secondary educator of the deaf, several of his students remained wonderful friends.  An amazing carpenter, learned from his father; a lover of hosting family and friends for dinners and parties; costume designer and make-up artist – extraordinaire.

A very special and heartfelt thank you to the amazing and compassionate staff of Five West at Belmont House – each of you are true angels – and Pat and Geoff Butler for their love and support.

The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville) from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7th, and from 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8th, followed by a service at 1:30 p.m.  Bill will be interred in Mount Horeb Cemetery in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the National Ballet of Canada, Mount Horeb United Church, Belmont House or the charity of your choice.  Condolences may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.
