I knew Mr. Kemp when he was a head of the department at Northern Secondary High School and I was in grade 9 back in 1994/1995. Mr. Kemp always called me sunshine and never once talked to me without a big smile on his face. I remember when he retired that year, for his retirement party I wrote a poem that was gifted to him. I wished I could remember that poem, but I don’t. I just hope that he knew that poem was from my heart. Mr. Kemp, it is rare to meet someone so long ago, but never forget how kind they were. I pray that you lived a life as kind and beautiful as you were to us at NSS.
My sincere condolences to Mr. Kemp's family and friends. He will always be remembered as a great man. Rest in Peace, Mr. Kemp.

Hi I'm Gordon Dalzell and I met Bill Kemp while I was a teacher in training student at York University back in 1991-92 and I have had two placements with Bill and it was such a pleasure working with him, so friendly, helpful and patient while at Danforth Tech. He was full of life and humour and I looked up to him as a mentor which I eventually landed a job at the same place where he worked. He was one of the first who encouraged sign language to be used in deaf and hard of hearing classrooms within the Toronto School board as a way of instruction and communication (although not purely ASL from the perspective of the Deaf community) yet he facilitated education and communication among deaf and hard of hearing students with sign language and was a role model at that time. RIP Bill Kemp and so glad to have met you and worked with you.

Wayne, we are sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. He was always kind, friendly and welcoming (as you are). I recall first meeting him at our home when we hosted a dinner party, it’s such a nice memory! He was happy to co-host the family reunions at your home and we are very grateful that we were able to have that celebration. Your devotion and advocating for him when he became ill is a testament to your love. May he rest in peace. Love, Rose and Flo

Wayne, our hearts are with you during this time of losing your soul mate. Having taught along side of Bill for many years I know what a compassionate teacher he was, caring for his students enabling them to be the best they could be. He even returned to the classroom after retirement! Your parties were the epitome of class, elegance and plain fun. Bill's laughter would fill your condo from the moment people would arrive until the wee hours when the last person left. Bill, and you Wayne, have embraced our family as your own and we all love Bill and you for that and our long wonderful friendship. We will miss our Billy. Shayndelynne, David, Daniel and Jonathan
