Shirley Elizabeth Whiteside - Nee Haldenby

April 29,1932 - October 24, 2022

Shirley passed away peacefully in Toronto on October 24th, at the age of 90. Predeceased by her daughter Kathleen, son Howard, brother Kenneth, sister Marjorie and daughter-in-law Debbie. Shirley is survived by her husband of 66 years, Howard, son Brian (Sandra), grandchildren Kathleen (Nathan), Rebecca (Mark), Jessica (Damien), Victoria (Michael), Hugo (Kerry), Trevor, Emily (Joel), Annie (Jordan), along with eleven great grandchildren, her sister-in- law Freda and many nephews and nieces.

Heartfelt thanks to the wonderful personal support workers and nurses at Spectrum Health Care and the doctors and nurses of the Temmy Latner Palliative Care Unit, Hennick Bridgeport Hospital. A huge thank you also to Joan, who helped coordinate all the support and services needed, to ensure that Shirley’s final months were as comfortable as possible.

Uncomplaining to the end, and in true Shirley style, she was thinking only of the care and wellbeing of those around her.

A funeral service will be held at Leaside United Church, 822 Millwood Road, Toronto, on November 10th, 2022 at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be gratefully accepted for a charity of your choice in Shirley’s name.
