Aunt Kitty.....when I think of Aunt Kitty in one word it was her sense of humour, (yes I know that is 3 words, lol), as she was usually good for a laugh. She maintained that sense of humour right up to the end and I was lucky enough to share some of those last laughs with her. If you were sharing a story with her she usually replied "Oh, fill in any name here." Oh Maureen, or Oh Dolly, or Oh any other name. So if I had to pick one word for Aunt Kitty it would be "OH".
Our common bond was curling. She was a great curler at Scarborough Golf and Country Club and she invited me to play on a bonspiel team with her in the 80s. It is still a treasured memory. More recently when she could not curl anymore we would still share our love of the game vicariously watching the Brier and Scotties and talk about the great shot making of today's curlers!
My deepest condolences to the family and to all that ever met or knew our beloved Aunt Kitty. As an avid curler and golfer we should all be sending her off yelling "Hurry Hard" or "Four". I think she would laugh at that.
Love
Niece Maureen Giles

Kitty was my first cousin. There were 15 of us. My mothers family were her best friends and she loved her nieces and nephews dearly. Kitty was 10 years older than me and we, as young girls, were in awe of her. She was beautiful, smart and strong.. She had more than one incredibly successful careers, but most of all, she adored becoming a mother. Her death saddens me incredibly, but I am proud that she was a part of my wonderful family. Kitty, you died as you lived. To quote our boy Frankie, "you did it your way".
Peace always,
Cuz Patsy.

My sincere condolences to Kitty's Family. She was a wonderfully strong and warm and humourous woman that enabled her to keep her 'political men' in line.
Never another shall be !!

Caroline, David, Ian and family.... I am so very sorry for the loss of your mom, she was a special lady. I have found childhood memories of your mom. The two things that I remember most about her was her voice and her amazing smile. Sending you all hugs!

Kitty was a beautiful person whom I looked forward to seeing everyday in the few years we worked together. She was professional, pleasant and thoughtful. We need more Kitty Knight’s in this world. God bless her.

Mom loved to laugh, she had a great sense of humour. What I thing I'll miss the most is when I would call her, which was twice a week, she'd always say "How're you doin kid?"
She was so strong the way she handled the adversity in her life. No matter what was going wrong while she was married to Dad, we never saw it as kids. All she ever wanted for us was to be happy in our lives, she was always there for us with advice and moral support.
She's never going know how much I'm truly going to miss her... my only wish is that I told her before she was gone.
Love you Mom.

I believe I sent something already but wanted to share this picture of our foursome for Ladies' competing in the Sunnybroook & Women's Classic in 2004. It was not at Ladies' Golf Club but we had fun. From left to right: Marg Sothern, me (Joan Elliott), Kitty and Sandy McBride. Hope my picture of the picture on my desk shows. We met in 1990 and had many years of shared golf and trips and good times. Condolences to Kitty's family and friends. We will all miss her greatly!

Thank you so much for posting this Joan, I don't recall having seen this pic of Mom before. She loved playing golf and spoke fondly of her golf partners and of the Toronto Ladies Golf Club. I remember when I played there one weekend with her as a guest and one of the ladies stopped and told her that I looked a lot like her. We later laughed about this, because Mom adopted all of her children.

Aunt Kitty was an incredible woman. So special and kept in touch with nephews and nieces always interested in our lives and our children. She passed on the day my daughter got married and made certain the day was perfect. Thank you aunt Kitty for all your love and kindness over the years.

Great photo's Caroline, I don't remember that picture of Mom in the red blouse. She was joking all the time and had such a great sense of humor. I'll miss my weekly phone calls with her the most. I always looked forward to hearing her say... "How's it going kid?". I'll upload some of my own pics when I get home on Thursday night. - David

Kitty was the glue that held us all together in the Premier’s office especially during difficult times. She was a special lady that we all loved. One of my favourite memories was when I was her guest at the Toronto Ladies Golf Club. condolences to family—Mike Harris. Premier. 1995-2002
