Dear Andy,
Bob and I are very sorry to hear of Maureen’s passing. We got to know you both when Maureen reached out to us one Sunday after Mass and invited us to join you for lunch at a nearby restaurant. Many wonderful fun-filled lunches followed. And we were happy that we also got to meet Maureen’s daughters and grand-daughter. Maureen will be sadly missed. She was a lovely lady.
May the love and support of family and friends comfort you and Maureen’s family.
Sincere Condolences,
Moira (McCarthy) and Bob (Torpey)

I was Elizabeth's neighbour at the Hallnor
I think my father and I drove your Mom home from pottery lessons at the community centre a few times.
We did those early art classes at Northern College as well.
Bernadet was the one I remember the best.
When she moved to Toronto, we got together with Elizabeth a few times and were at her condo.
I remember us driving to the condo from Harbourfront and she got a flat tire... We had to change it on the 401 as well as pump it up with a bicycle pump as the spare didn't have air in it! Onward and upward, we made it back to the condo! Not sure if Sylvia was with us that time.
I think she made it to my grandmother's farm in Beamsville as well, as she borrowed her fine knitting needles for making knit lace... They were in a round wooden box. Although the farm is sold I have the house next door now.
You shall all miss her tremendously.. She was a real trouper.

Excerpts from an Email from Elizabeth Holmes
On the last trip to Timmins to visit, your mother took the bus to Sudbury and then the next day we drove to Timmins via 144. It was the fastest trip that I have ever made because we engaged in non stop talking from Sudbury to Timmins and the same on return.
I have many funny stories regarding your mother and I, the funniest being the time we stopped the train which had just pulled out of Porquis Junction,in order for Sylvia Martin to board the train because she had to get to a meeting in Toronto. Too bad that adventure wasn’t filmed. You would be rolling on the floor.
I shall miss her for a long long time.
Love to all of you,
Elizabeth
Oh, I have to add this. Cousin Gertie MacDonald. Maureen and Gertie were a team, and whatever Gertie did not know [ which was not much ] Maureen could fill in. I LOVED it !

I feel so sad today to have lost my dear friend Maureen. We go all the way back to Timmins where we met when we both were in a pottery course. Over the years we remained friends and had many trips and adventures together. I was always so impressed by her courage and bravery trying out new things and living life on her terms. She tried many new things and when I think of her, I always picture her with a smile on her face. Andy was such a blessing and she enjoyed many years with him and I am sure he and everyone in her family and friends will miss her greatly. Sadly, we didn’t see a lot of each other the last few years (distance etc) but I am glad I had such a good phone call with her not long before she got sick. We exchanged many interesting letters and had a lot of great discussions and I shall always remember all the good times we enjoyed together. Heather Nord

My sincere condolences to Bernadet, Rachele, Christine and all the members of both families during these difficult times.
À date to remember since her passing was on my birthday.
I did not get a chance to meet her but she seemed to be a very talented and wonderful person.
