I knew Kris when I worked as a writer at CBC National Radio News. He was a genuinely nice man, always upbeat and friendly. He also knew how to cut through the bureaucracy and get things done. I respected him and miss him.

Kris was the key to getting things done in National Radio News. How he found the money to fund stories or special projects or the time to talk to reporters across the ocean on assignment was a mystery but we always knew Kris would find a way. And for those of us in Toronto in need of Kris's wisdom, his 'come into my office' was a guarantee of a sympathetic ear and practical advice to solve whatever the problem at hand.
