I am very sorry to hear about Gavin's passing. He was an incredible light to all of us collaborating in the HIV/AIDS fundraising and support community over the years. As well as such a friendly face whenever we'd meet up at all the events we mutually attended over the years. I had the pleasure of meeting Gavin when I worked on Fashion Cares (ACT) years back... his dedication was an inspiration. As current vice-chair of the Casey House board, and on the entire board's behalf, I would like to acknowledge how much Gavin's support over the years is deeply appreciated. He was one of a kind, incredibly giving, and will be missed. Rest in peace Gavin.

I was asked to write up my memories of Gavin and send some pics for a message to go out to our BMO PRIDE Membership and BMO Central Page.
I like to share what I wrote about my friend Gavin and mentor within BMO and BMO PRIDE and our LGBTQ2S+ Community here.
Gavin I am so sorry to hear of your passing and I am shocked and devastated as everyone else is to hears this news about you my friend.
You and I meant when I joined BMO PRIDE Employee Resource Group (ERG) about year or two after I joined BMO which was around 2005/6 and that’s when you and I became friends.
Gavin you left a HUGE LEGACY for us all to be very proud of what you accomplished and succeeded in your vision on how you saw BMO PRIDE and your community.
From there you and your small leadership group helped make our Employee Resource Group BMO PRIDE become the Largest membership of any of BMO ERG's at that time.
Your leadership helped guide the other ERG’s to become what they are today because the way you lead BMO PRIDE. Our goal at that time was to do some cross bonding and interactions from our social events, to our community projects and fundraising within our own communities and help the smaller ERGS get up and running within BMO. By doing these events it helped us ALL grow as ONE and build a STRONGER BOND amongst each of the ERG’s within BMO and OURSELVES.
You and the group helped grow BMO Pride across Canada so that we could have representation in our major cities and even the small one communities to. Being apart of BMO PRIDE it showed us that we all could celebrate our PRIDE year round (especially during our pride weeks/month), to be proud of who we are, from our acceptance of being apart of the LGBTQS2+ community/family, to our diversity and inclusion within BMO, to the equality and rights of the LGBTQS2+ community.
Along the way you gain the respect of our community leaders, and especially amongst our BMO Leadership. During that journey you have made many wonder and beautiful friendships. A reason why those bonds were cemented and stay strong today is because of your passion, and love and loyalty to our LGBTQ2S+ community here in Canada, the US and aboard. That also includes here in Toronto in our Church and Wellesley Gay Village where you have shone brightly and made a huge mark and impression within your community. You and others have ensured that BMO is upfront and Centre and to be seen as part of our community here at Church and Wellesley and anywhere we could and can to support our community.
Here are a few things that stick out for me regarding your contributions to BMO PRIDE and your community.
You were a great mentor not just to me and so many others during your time with BMO as well as outside of BMO. You gave myself and Karen the opportunity to CO-CHAIR BMO PRIDE under your direction and leadership and guidance back in 2012-14.
You help secure the funds for the Two Spirit Plaque for the BMO HARRIS PRIDE LEGACY WALK in Chicago.
You helped the BMO PRIDE and Remembrance Run during PRIDE Weekend and help raise a large amount of funds and share those funds amongst the various groups who we support in the Toronto and Vancouver Gay Community.
And you helped bring the very first ever ERG LOGO to life for BMO PRIDE, as we struggled for a year to get it right.
I enjoyed ever moment with you and was so proud to work along side you. That would be from whenever we would met up for BMO PRIDE meetings, to our Socials and Holiday PRIDE Parties. Or just even catching up as we passed each other on the street. I loved seeing that smile and pride that you had in you.
It was a pleasure and honour in meeting you and having you part of my life. I will so miss those moments and is very sad that we will not have going forward. But I do have these memories that I will cherish each of them for a lifetime.
To your partner LUIS ROJAS who is an amazing chef and the love of your life. Luis you brought so much joy and happiness to Gavin. I saw and heard it each time he talked about you and especially when would provide us all with amazing and delicious mouth watering food to our BMO Pride Socials or BMO PRIDE HOLIDAY Party (which I have to say I do miss). I so sorry that your heart is aching so badly right now. I just can’t imaging what going through right now. But know this, that we love you as much we love your sweet dear partner Gavin.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Gavin’s Family and friends and Luis and to our dear departed friend GAVIN. May you rest in peace my friend and may your memories be a blessing.
Michael Bottoms.

My deepest condolences. I can't even begin to express what a kind and caring soul Gavin was. Working with him for over 7 years was a true privilege. Gavin was the literal definition of the word 'mench' and gave so much of himself to his community. I will miss you dearly Gavin, especially our conversations at events.

Condolences to Gavin's family and friends. I knew Gavin professionally, as he was one of our main contacts at Nesbitt Burns. He always made sure we were well taken care of, but also he would never hesitate to pick up the phone and give us a call and would come by the museum offices. I'll remember his enthusiasm and his smile!

Our condolences to Luis, to Gavin's family, and to all who are suffering this loss. Gavin will always be recalled as the banker who went well above and beyond his professional role, particularly when we set out on our own adventure of forming our own non-conventional family. He was always there to offer support and assistance as needed, and will always be most fondly remembered in the highest regard for that.

My condolences to Luis and your good family on Gavin's death! I met Gavin in my early days in capital markets. Gavin was thoughtful, kind, smart, hard working and always looking out for the best interests of his client! Bay Street was lucky to have Gavin's talents and he made a difference in Canadian Capital Markets. May your family find peace in such sadness! James Beattie
