Obituary of Christina Louise Wickson

C. LOUISE WICKSON

(1943 -2021)

Christina Louise Wickson (nee Morrow) passed away peacefully early Friday, December 10, 2021, surrounded by her loved ones after a long, battle with cancer.

A stylish woman of laughter, heart and high energy, Louise was raised in Montreal, moved to Ottawa where she worked at the National Arts Centre and then in 1972 moved to Vancouver. In 1982, she moved to Toronto, to accept an executive position in the Ontario Government where she met her beloved partner, Les Horswill, with whom she shared the rest of her interesting life. Her government career included diverse senior management responsibilities, always served with a zeal to serve. She led the first international promotion of Ontario’s cultural centres of excellence, ultimately joining the management team of Ontario’s Clean Water Agency. After retiring from the government, Louise secured a Chartered Account’s certificate, practiced management consulting, learned Italian, and took on two home renovations. She was sure every home could be made into a thing of beauty. Louise’s cancer returned during one of the many trips she and Les enjoyed in the eternal city of Rome, her favourite place in the world.

Louise is predeceased by her parents, Robert Ellis Morrow and Constance Louise Bishop; her sister-in-law, Randy Friedman and her first husband, Malcolm Wickson. She is survived by her long-time soulmate, Les Horswill; her siblings, Robert (Pat Grace), Claudia (David Migicovsky), Stuart, Katherine and stepsons, Bruce and Ian Wickson; and nieces and nephews, Tyson, Alex, Rachel (Andrew Fullarton), Paul, Ali, Evan, and Antoine; great-nephew, Aiden and great-niece, Camille.

Les would like to thank the extraordinary team at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and Louise’s home-care team for their tireless support and kindness over the past years. Louise was never alone, either in Sunnybrook or at home, thanks to her dedicated circle of friends who never left her side.

A celebration of life will be held in the new year for this truly remarkable woman of singular character who will be greatly missed.
