I have very fond memories of Peter (my dad would call him PJ) when I was a kid which I would like to share with you. Every Saturday morning I would go with my dad to Dominion grocery store and we would spend a half hour sipping coffee (hot chocolate for me) with PJ, the store manager and a few other workers. PJ would always have great, humorous stories to tell of what happened over the past week. We would then start our groceries and when my dad wasn't looking PJ would slip something yummy into our grocery cart when my dad wasn't looking and give me a wink with his eye. As a child we didn't travel much but our family did one memorable driving trip to Florida. PJ was kind enough to allow us to stay at his condo on the golf course... what a beautiful spot. Even the closets were fancy... which was where I slept as my 2 sisters claimed the beds. In later years he arranged with my parents a deal that they would drive his car down to Florida in the fall and then they would pick it up in the spring and drive it back to Canada. Thanks to PJ this enabled us to have 2 weeks a year with no parents... a great time to have house parties as we were teenagers then!! At the age of 16, PJ hired me to work as a construction worker for the summer. My first job I started helping with a renovation at Sunnybrook Hospital as a general laborer... little did I know that my first job as an adult would be at Sunnybrook... as an Anesthesiologist. I worked many summers at Dalton's Construction which enabled me to fund my way through Medical School. My father (who passed away last year as well) really enjoyed working for PJ and had the utmost respect for him. Perhaps they are once again sharing stories and laughter over a coffee on Saturday mornings. I am truly sorry to hear about PJ's passing as he had a huge impact in my life when I was younger. TO RANDY, THIS IS DAVID WILLIAMS FROM UPPER CANADA COLLEGE 1977...REMEMBER HOW YOU'D ALWAYS MAKE ME LAUGH WHILE I WAS WORKING OUT IN THE ROWING ROOM.
