Dave you will be missed. I have known you for many years, and only in the last 2 years are friendship grew as we sat side by side every morning in the ecosystem discussing work amongst many other things. You were always respectful and willing to help out, and had little or no patience for things not done the correct way. I remember when I spoke to you last year on your decision to retire..I only wish my friend you had enjoyed many years of retirement..May your soul rest in peace

I wanted to share a few old pictures of David. There are a few he would probably give me a dirty look for adding but I love them. Mainly the ones where he had a perm! He was always there! He was an amazing brother and uncle. We miss him so much. His passing has left an empty ness that is indescribable. I’m so glad that he met Cal so many years ago. They were a great match. David the extrovert and Cal the introvert. They had a great balance. Cal became a part of our family. I loved going to see them or having them come out. Now I wish that had of been more often. If I’ve learned from David’s passing it is to not put things off. He was far to young to be taken away and had so much more he wanted to do. Love with all of your heart, Take the trips, drink the wine, eat the food, have friends over. Take the time to do what makes you happy! David was always happy! We miss him but fortunately we had the opportunity to make memories with him that will never fade.

Our deepest sympathies to Cal, Joanne, Ryan and Matthew. We always enjoyed our time with David on his trips to Nova Scotia. I remember his last trip and how much he enjoyed driving his BMW on our twisting country roads. We grieve with you from Nova Scotia and will keep our memories of him close to our hearts. Wendy Smith & Jay Josefo extend deepest sympathies to Cal and to David's extended family. Wendy met David at work over 35 years ago; and they soon became good friends enjoying dinners and shopping excursions where they often encountered hapless sales staff. When Wendy married Jay in 1991, he also enjoyed getting to know David, enjoying perfect gin martinis with David, as well as wonderful dinner which David took pleasure in preparing. When Cal came into the picture, David's happiness was complete. We each enjoyed getting to know Cal. David and Cal continued to host lovely soirees; excellent food and wine was served, and much good discussion of the issues of the day ensued. The more wine, the more animated those discussions often became!
David was a true renaissance man: expert in his field of IT, yet also someone who enjoyed many other endeavours and activities, including charitable fund-raising for worthy causes. He leaves a wonderful legacy of memories for his family and friends of a man who positively influenced many lives. A keen and dry wit, a solid observer of the human condition, quick with a bon-mot, yet always kind and never cruel; David will be sadly missed by us, and by many. We take comfort in the wonderful memories we have. We wish all who mourn David, peace and healing.

David was such a kind and and gentle soul, with a dry wit you could count on to entertain you. I always enjoyed the times we got to play together at the curling rink and our after game chats. Godspeed my friend, I hope you have gone to a wonderful place!
