Obituary of Lisa Catherine Callaghan

LISA CATHERINE CALLAGHAN

January 25, 1990 – February 7, 2021

It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of Lisa Catherine Callaghan as the result of an accident.

Cherished daughter of Beverley and Frank.  Much loved sister of Sarah (Christopher Skubel) and Maggie.  Loving Aunt to Jack Charles.  Predeceased by her grandparents Gretta and Charlie Witt and Mollie and Frank Callaghan.  Dearly loved niece of Brian Callaghan (Diana), the late Mark Callaghan (Catherine), John (Seanna) and Russell Witt.  Dear cousin to Caelin, Mary, Christopher, Ryan, Molly, Charlie and Harry.

Lisa attended high school at St. Clement’s School.  She graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Business Management before receiving her diploma in Special Event Management from George Brown College.  Lisa was always passionate about doing meaningful work and helping others which led her to begin her career in event management at the Princess Margaret Foundation followed by two years with the Toronto General Hospital Foundation.  For the past two years, Lisa worked at The Mastercard Foundation where she was part of the event management and communications groups.  She travelled extensively through Africa with the Foundation assisting with the Young Africa Works Initiative which aims to enable 30 million young people to access dignified work by 2030.

Lisa was a bright and charismatic young woman who lit up every room she was in.  She was kind and generous to all who knew her.  She loved making people happy and valued the special friendships she had made during her short life.  Lisa was scrubbed in sunshine and loved to dance and sing.  She had many interests in addition to her work.   She enjoyed playing sports, whether tennis, skiing, paddle-boarding or biking.  She also enjoyed dance, music, painting and crafts.  But her favourite times were spent at summer camp with her friends at Glen Bernard and at the family cottage in Southampton, Ontario with our extended community of family and friends.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private family funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 16, 2021.   Friends who wish, may join virtually.  Please see the Humphrey Funeral Home website for details pertaining to the streaming link.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lisa’s name to the Hospital for Sick Children’s Cardiac Unit at http://my.sickkidsdonations.com/lisacallaghan.  Condolences may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com
