Obituary of Scott Douglas Harcourt
SCOTT DOUGLAS HARCOURT
December 15, 1955
January 25, 2021
With enormous sadness, we announce that Scott passed away suddenly on Monday, January 25th, at his home.
He is the much loved son of Douglas Harcourt (Gayle), and his late mother Barbara (Babs). Brother to Peter and the late Peggy, and brother-in-law to Rob Brydges. Dear uncle of Michael, David Brydges, Nancy Wood; and Cary and Jordan Harcourt. Cousin to Susan and Jim Roliff.
He will be forever remembered by his closest friends; Allan & Robin, Michael & Scott, the Balliol gang, the Rotators and Riverdale Curling League members; his former staff and co-workers at The Ontario Ministry of Housing, his many friends in Toronto, across Canada and the US, and everyone else who had the privilege to know him.
Scott was a lifelong curler, growing up in Ottawa and learning the game at the Granite Club with his parents. Moving to Toronto in 1978, he became one of earliest and longest member of the Riverdale and Rotators curling leagues at the Royal Canadian Curling Club, winning many trophies and bonspiels over the years. He led his team in the Gay Nationals for consecutive years 2007 - 2010, an honour very few curlers ever achieve. He was a consummate sportsman as well as a mentor to many who joined the club and wanted to learn the game.
Scott loved his time with family and friends at the cottage on Norway Lake; going fishing, the “booze cruise” and planning dinner parties. We will remember his impish grin and gentle nature, and his love of animals.
Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, a private funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 1 p.m.. It will be live-streamed and available to be viewed, post service as well. Streaming link will be posted in the near future.
In Scott’s memory, we ask that you reach out to those who are alone during these difficult times and extend a kind hand. Donations in Scott’s memory to CAMH or Parkinson Canada are welcomed by the family. Condolences may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.
