Obituary of John Thomas Mollard, DVM

John Thomas Mollard, DVM

September 7, 1944 – December 25, 2020

Passed away peacefully and amongst family on Christmas Day.  First and foremost, Dad was devoted to his family. He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Jane; his four children, Peter (Shannon) Mollard, Andrew (Martha) Mollard, Megan (Andrew) Beach and Chloe Mollard; his five grandchildren, John Thomas Mollard, Claire Mollard, Lucy Beach, Alice Beach and Thomas Beach; and his sister, Barb Mollard (Collingwood, ON).

Born in Toronto, Dad grew up on Toronto Island and later Thornhill where his love of animals developed early. After graduating from Ontario Veterinary College, he launched a successful 44-year veterinary practice in Richmond Hill.

Dad loved people and was devoted to his community. He served as Chairman of Country Day School and later on the Muskoka Lakes Association Board - most proudly as Chairman of the Regatta Committee. Dad loved the annual Regatta and was proud to share his passion for canoeing with his children and grandchildren. Dad also enjoyed being a member of the Richmond Hill Squash Club for years.

For over 30 years, Dad loved having family gather at the cottage in Muskoka. He spent many winter holidays in Barbados. He later enjoyed his time spent with Jane at their winter home in Fort Myers - where he loved hosting family in the Florida sun. There was nothing Dad liked better than presiding over our weekly family dinners and barbecues.

Dad was hard working, generous, endlessly energetic and enthusiastic - he made life better for everyone around him. He will be sorely missed but lovingly remembered. There will be a private ceremony with family. Dad will be buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery - a place he loved walking with his wife and family.
