Obituary of Kenneth Garnet DeWolf

KENNETH GARNET DeWOLF

March 29, 1940

December 10, 2020

Dearly loved husband, heart mate and friend of Judith (McAlpine).  Proud father of Laurel (Steve) in Atlanta, GA., Jamie (Marcia) in Brussels, Belgium, and Michael in Port Credit.  Loving grandfather to Matthieu and Emilie, Scott and Tyler. Stepbrother of Catherine and John (White). Caring friend and neighbour, proud of his country and the opportunity to serve other countries on behalf of Canada.

Over his 35-year career as a Trade Commissioner with the Government of Canada, Ken served abroad at the High Commission of Canada in New Delhi, India; the Embassy of Canada in Brussels, Belgium; and the Embassy of Canada in Dublin, Ireland as well as at the Consulates General of Canada in Chicago, Boston, and Atlanta, USA. He formed many life-long friendships in his various postings and enjoyed travelling extensively throughout the various countries in which he served, as well as elsewhere in the world.

While Ken will be remembered and loved by his wife, family and friends for so many special qualities, his quick wit, whimsical humour, gentleness, and natural courtesy best reflect the essence of the man.  He was a “gentleman” in the best and most positive sense of the word.  We are so fortunate to have known him.

A special thank you must go to the first-floor staff, west wing, north building of Kensington Gardens whose professional expertise and compassionate care helped Ken through his long journey with Alzheimer’s disease.

A post-COVID celebration of life will be held at a later date.
