Obituary of John MacDonald
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of John B on Saturday, August 29, 2020 in Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Palliative Care Unit, in his 80th year after a battle with cancer.
John B was born in Blooming Point, Prince Edward Island on January 24, 1941 to Leo Alphonse and Theola MacDonald. John B was a high school teacher who made a lasting impact with generations of students in Shawinigan, Quebec and then Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. John B leaves memories of creative approaches to Shakespeare, discipline in keyboarding and dedication to English grammar.
John B is survived by his daughter, Shannon and his son-in-law, David Postill, as well as his three grandchildren, Gemma, Anna and Jacob, who will miss his love, jokes and regular emoji texts. He is also survived by his brother, George (Arleen) MacDonald and sister-in-law, Holly McDonald. John B is predeceased by his wife, Anne Connolly MacDonald, his sister, Mary (Roger) Richard and his brother, Jim McDonald.
John B loved following the Raptors, playing crib, dancing and writing cards and texts.
The family would like to thank the nephrology department, the Odette Cancer Centre and the palliative care unit at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre for their great care and compassion.
A service was held in Toronto and his remains will be laid to rest in St. Bonaventure’s Parish, Tracadie, Prince Edward Island.
