John B brought joy and laughter to my high school years, whether I was in his class or not. My English class with him in Grade 10 was a highlight of my high school years. I enjoyed his sense of humour, his creative ways to engage students and his encouragement to participate.
The connection we forged in Grade 10 lasted throughout my years at Ch'town Rural - he'd pass by me in the halls and ask me: "...and how is Mr. Kaufield doing today?" - with a big smile, and often a warm pat on the back. He was always so positive, genuine and interested in his students.
He certainly left a lasting impression on me. He showed me how important it is to have a positive spirit, a sense of humour and a genuine passion for your profession. Students may not remember as much Shakespeare as he might have wished, but very few will ever forget the positive learning experience in John B.'s class.
Best wishes to the family.
