Obituary of Elisabeth (Beppy) Curry
ELISABETH (BEPPY) CURRY
née Fakkers
It is with heavy hearts and much sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Elisabeth (Beppy) Curry on Friday, May 1, 2020, in her 99th year, just 5 days shy of celebrating her 100th. Mom was born in Holland on May 6, 1920. Our dad, a Canadian soldier, proudly and bravely served in World War II and was sent overseas to liberate the Dutch. Mom spoke no English, Dad spoke no Dutch, yet fate brought them together in the toughest of times and they both returned to Canada to build a new life together. Their 60+ year, long journey through life together is a true 'love story' filled with unconditional love and support for one another, their children and grandkids during the greatest of times and the hardest of times. Mom, being a determined and independent, strong woman, wife and mother, held many jobs over many decades and was retired from Honeywell. Mom spread love, laughs and happiness into the lives of others; she is dearly loved by many and she loved her life. Loved and cherished wife of the late Walton [Jimmy) Curry. Sweetest mommy of Sandra (the late Paul), Susan, and Lorraine (Rick). Sweetest grandma of Katie (Jake), Jeremy (Lanny), Kerri (Graham) and great-grandkids Celeste and Mason. Dear sister-in-law of Dorothy Trevorrow. Dearly loved by her family here, her family in Holland and her many friends. We will forever miss our Mom, Grandma, mentor, our hero and friend. On May 6th raise a glass of cheer in honour of our amazing Mom and the amazing life she lead. Our sincere thanks and gratitude extended to all our friends the wonderful staff at McCowan Retirement Residence and the doctors and nurses at Scarborough General Hospital. At a later date a 'private family' celebration of Mom's life will be held. In lieu of flowers/cards, donations can be made towards your favourite charity.
