Obituary of Gail Carnegie

GAIL ELIZABETH CARNEGIE (Jarvis)
July 19, 1936 - January 22, 2019

Gail passed away peacefully at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre on Tuesday, January 22nd. Beloved wife of James (Jim) Gordon Carnegie and much loved mother of Anne (David Bowden), Martha, and Christopher (Tania). Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will dearly miss her.

Gail met the love of her life at the age of 12 and she and Jim were an inseparable team until his death in 1996. Gail often said Jim “always had her back” and together they raised three wonderful children. Widowed at aged 60, Gail continued to be full of great ideas, curiosity and enthusiasm and enjoyed very close relationships with her many friends. Sharing a love for travel, Martha and Gail experienced many wonderful adventures and made lasting memories. Gail’s love of life, spontaneity and optimistic outlook were an example to all of us. 

At Gail’s request there will not be a service. In lieu of flowers, we know she would appreciate donations directed to the Sunnybrook Foundation. She was very thankful for their excellent care over many years. Condolences, photographs and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.
