Obituary of Helen Margaret Mock

HELEN MARGARET (PEG) MOCK

With love and reverence, we share Peg’s peaceful passing on Monday, December 17, 2018 at Belmont House, Toronto. Dennis, her loving husband and best friend, was at her side. Born on April 23, 1944 in Calgary, AB, Peg was the daughter of the late Dr. John and Helen Goddard of Hensall, ON. She is predeceased by her much-loved son Jeff; she will be greatly missed by her cherished grandchildren, Georgia, Elliott, and Jackson, and daughter-in-law Donna. Peg is survived by her loving sister Joan Goddard (Eric) of Goderich. She is predeceased by her older sister, Beth Jamieson, and younger brother, John Goddard. Peg will be fondly remembered as daughter-in-law of Mrs. Kay Mock (Hensall) and sister-in-law of Ted and Vicki Mock (Port Hope), Linda McCall (Exeter), Mary and Gary Berscht (Heidelberg), Doug and Cathy Mock (Victoria, BC), Tim and Laurice Mock (Duncan, BC), and Julie and John Byrne (Tillsonburg).

Peg’s distinguished role as an educator began at Leesboro Public School near London, ON. From 1968 to 1998, she worked with the Toronto District School Board. The highlight of her career was serving as principal of Sunnyview Public School during her final nine years. Her passion for Special Education touched the lives of many students, parents, and teachers; her outstanding commitment and contributions will not be forgotten.

Peg was a kind and generous woman of sensitivity and compassion who cherished her family and friends.  She loved being an educator, enjoyed working with others and brought out the best in them. Her inner strength and will to live life to the fullest were inspirational throughout her eight-year illness.

We thank all who have visited, called, or sent cards throughout Peg’s illness. A special thanks to Dr. Tang-Wai and staff (Memory Clinic, Toronto Western Hospital), to her committed caregivers Rose Coroneja and Lisa Rimando, and to the exceptional staff at Eldercare Home Health and Belmont House.

The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 11th.  The memorial service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, January 12th at 1:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to a children’s charity of your choice.  Condolences, photographs, and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.
