Obituary of Kenneth Scovell
KENNETH MERVYN SCOVELL
February 13, 1926 – November 19, 2018
At Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Toronto after a long and wonderful life.
Ken is survived by his wife Sheila Scovell (nee Malley). He was predeceased by his daughter, Diane and fondly remembered by his beloved grandchildren, Kenna Claire, Elizabeth Rose and Bryan Andrew as well as his extended Malley and Scovell families.
While Ken may have had a tough exterior, inside he was a very cool guy. A teacher, a father, a grandfather, a friend and the driver of the most exceptional Mustang as a young man – the debate continues on whether it was pink or purple. During his career with both Peel and Toronto school boards, he was a teacher, vice principal, principal and basketball coach. An avid sports fan who loved watching and attending all sorts of games, Ken was also the 1995 Ontario Masters Skip Curling Champion and a skilled card player. Ken will primarily be remembered by those who loved him for his amazing sense of humour - consistently making his family laugh and sometimes groan while Sheila and Diane admonished him, and his great pride in being Baba to his three amazing grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES – NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 23rd. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages those who wish to remember Ken to donate to the Immunotherapy Program at the Princess Margaret Hospital, a team who did so much to help his late daughter in her fight against cancer.
