Obituary of Christopher Paddon
CHRISTOPHER WILLIAM MURPHY PADDON
Our beloved Christopher died peacefully at Toronto General Hospital on Friday, November 2, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was 27.
Chris was the son of Marlene Murphy and David Paddon; big brother to Timothy Paddon; nephew to Dr. Robert Paddon, Kevin Murphy, Karen Murphy Kohnen and Stefan Kohnen; and cousin to Eric and Andrew Kohnen.
Chris’ early years were spent in Scarborough, where he attended St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Catholic School and met friends he would stay in touch with for the rest of his life
Chris enjoyed swimming and soccer, listening to music and tossing around a baseball. From an early age he was a big video game fan, and later loved playing with friends online
.
During Chris’ time at Monsignor Fraser high school, he did a co-op placement at Paisano’s restaurant in North York, which sparked his interest in the restaurant industry. The day of his high school graduation was also his first day of work at Pizzeria Libretto. Chris came home full of enthusiasm for the job and the kitchen team. Chris’ move to the first La Carnita was the opportunity to watch a new restaurant grow and flourish, and he was very proud to have been there for its early success. A move to Home of the Brave was the chance to work with more kitchen staff he respected, and learn from them.
Chris wanted people to be happy, and loved the experience of sharing in others’ happiness. He could be the biggest presence in a room, but what felt most comfortable to him was to be the quietest, surrounded by people he loved. He grew up, but never lost the spirit of the child who wanted to be everyone’s friend.
We grieve our loss, and will miss him dearly, but we are secure in our belief that he will live in our hearts forever. He was a gift to all of us, and we will take strength from the love he gave us during the time we had with him.
The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2018. The funeral will be held in Saint Monica’s Catholic Church, 44 Broadway Avenue, on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. A reception will follow at Good Fortune Bar (lower level of La Carnita) at 130 Eglinton Avenue East.
During his final weeks, Chris received outstanding care from a dedicated team at Toronto General Hospital, who did everything they could to support him and the rest of his family. A donation to the Toronto Centre for Liver Disease at University Health Network would be appreciated. As well, Chris was one of many people at the hospital who received blood and blood products from donors. If donating blood is something that is possible for you, our family would strongly encourage you to do so in his memory.
