I'm so sorry for your loss. I never met Christopher but even having briefly known you, I'm certain he is a kind and wonderful person. I know it sounds and probably is ridiculous coming from myself, but if you ever want to talk I am available. I have always appreciated working near you because of your calm and sharp humor, and kind demeanor.

Marlene,
I just herd the news that your young son has died. I am so sorry for your loss, and as I search for comforting words my heart drowns in despair.
We become widows or widowers when our partner's die, we become orphans when our parents die, but when our child dies, there is no word to describe the parents who are left behind.
We have no words because because it's unthinkable, unnatural, and belongs outside of the human experience.
The tiniest of consolations is that we remember them at their best and fondly, we hang on to their memory and keep them alive in our hearts. Those memories slowly form a shield against despair.
Do call on me if you need anything, in the mean time I will be thinking of you and your family.
