I first met Joyce in 1968 when I brought my son Scott to her for Piano Lessons. Although Scott was not thrilled with taking lessons Joyce and I became friends almost instantly.
After both of my sons tried piano and found it too tiresome to practice -- all was not lost because I became her pupil.. and that began a lifelong friendship.
Joyce was an amazingly talented lady, through the years she taught voice and Piano
to many students and also adjudicated all over Canada . After she retired from that she took up Artwork , pottery, sculpting podging, ,and a host of other activities.
Including supporting the Arts in Niagara-on-the-Lake at the Shaw Festival.
Joyce was always beautifully coiffured and elegantly dressed, how we loved to shop!
Above all she had a wonderful sense of humour and a passion for enjoying life , I can remember always laughing when we were together.
Joyce and John had some great parties when they lived in Oakville and there was always music.. another of her talents was that she was an outstanding cook .
I remember one year Joyce and Freddie (as we called him) and Ray and I -went to St Kitts on Vacation together . The All Inclusive Lodge we stayed at had a talking parakeet named Pepi . he would chatter at you as you went by to lunch or dinner. One day Joyce stopped in front of his cage and said " Pepi you silly bird what are you doing." Pepi turned to her and very plainly said F#-- OFF !!!
We all collapsed with laughter- to this day the memory of that incident makes me chuckle .
I remember lovely lunches, at wineries, and great Restaurants, attending Festival shows together , having quiet dinners at each other's homes, spending weekends together . Celebrating Special birthdays, Weddings, and Anniversaries.
Joyce and her boys Paul and Peter have been a Second family to us over the years .
We will Remember you with MUCH LOVE Dear Friend and Miss you a lot !!
