Roy married Zoe and I at Milton Abbey, UK in August 2008. It was a wonderful service and Roy was fantastic. A genuinely lovely man, we have only just learned of his passing as we wanted him to baptise our two children Henry and Daisy, hopefully at Milton Abbey. Our thoughts and prayers go to his family- we will certainly never forget him. His service included the lyrics of Love love love by the Beatles that was really fitting x

So many happy memories of Roy as our Curate at St Andrews, Bedworth. Roy was such an inspiration to myself and Louise before we were married in 1981 and later when he became a Curate in Bedworth. He was not only a lovely man but a great Pastor full of wisdom and integrity. He taught us so much that we have been able to pass on to others over the last 30 years. The best memory of all was when he baptised our eldest daughter Ruth on Christmas Day 1986 what a blessed day that was.

Diana, May the Lord bless you and keep you and your family during this awful time of grief. Roy was a wonderful, caring and gentle person full of knowledge and wisdom with a great sense of humour. You have both guided and supported me and my family, and took us under your wing since we met prior to Roy Christening Oliver in early 2004, We have lots of fond and happy memories with you both, be it at Bible Group where he shared his love of William Barclay and mentoring study groups.
Roy was a great friend to us and it's been an honour and blessing to know him. We will miss him greatly.
Please accept our sincere condolences.
With Love a blessings

Hi
This is another memory I should share with you all, such was Roy's knowledge that he suggested to Jackie and me to open a Charity Aid Foundation account for all our charitable givings.
We did back on the 30th August 1992.
Since that day and with the advance of online technology all our charitable giving has gone through this account and I am not ashamed to report we give quarterly to the Arden Marches 4 churches and on my next visit to my church in Mappleborough Green will tell everyone.
Just to emphasise Roy influence in my and the village life he also 'masterminded' the 100 [centenary] celebrations of the Church in 1988, it was a weeks event and I still have the magazine we published. I recall organising a school brass band to come to the church by coach to play to the assembly and of course our 2 young Children dressed as 1st World war pupils and I dressed in Derek Johnson uniform took the role of Lieutenant Jaffray as part of the tribute to the Church and family. What memories

Amendment: My reference to 1996 requires a review maybe Diana can recall the date? Love the photo too.

Hello it is 1520 on 5th August and at the Church of the Holy Ascension this morning Glyn Jones confirmed the notice of the passing of Roy Bennett! I ask Glyn is that Roy who was at our Parish and he confirmed it was and is to make enquiry for me in Studley how to make contact with you, as I understand you are his daughters. Please pass our condolences to Diana who must remember the time Roy gave a blessing to our Keystone as part of the Meadowbank extension circa 1996 [must make a thorough search of our photos]
I can fill pages on Roy but he was so progressive and I am going back 30 years and he has always been in my memory for what he did at Mappleborough Green church. We were in a dire state of finances on the current account and he enthused Roger Stote and me to meet at the late Phil & Irene Clamp at Pear Tree Cottage along the Henley Road.
Not only was Roy a great vicar he also befriended my late father in law William [Bill] Flowers with their walks along canal toe paths oh I could go on missed him so much and so sad today never knew he was my senior [my birth date 14th June 1946] please keep this page or write and let me know more of his life after he left us went to Nottingham but lost touch but such a wonderful person
