Obituary of Brian Pearson
BRIAN JOHN PEARSON
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Brian in Toronto on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the young age of 52. Brian left us peacefully, as he had wished, at home surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Catherine (nee Thompson); and loving father of Jessica, David and Samantha who will miss him dearly. Loved son of Jocelyn and the late Bruce Pearson; and brother to Tom (Melanie) and Hugh (Lori). He will be remembered with love and affection by his aunts; uncles; brother and sisters-in-law; eleven nieces and nephews; cousins and many friends.
Born and raised in Toronto, he lived in Moore Park and Rosedale, and attended North Toronto Collegiate, Queen’s University and Western’s Ivy Business School. Brian spent most of his career as an Investment Advisor at RBC and ScotiaMcLeod until he left to follow his passion and founded Quayle’s Ales Brewery, a hops farm and estate brewery nestled in the hills of Oro-Medonte. His vision to create a one-of-a-kind destination for families and friends to gather, taste world class beer and create ever lasting memories will live on. He enjoyed many times at The York Club where he was a past Board member; volunteer with Mooredale and North Rosedale Rate Payers Association and Past President of the PC Party, actively trying to drive change while preserving traditions.
Brian lived life to the fullest with many passions. His greatest passions were baseball, history, old cars, fishing and researching his Isle of Man family roots. He loved his Labrador Retrievers, the farm, travelling with his family and coaching baseball. He will be forever remembered in the dugout as Coach Brian. He celebrated life right to the end with no regrets, teaching us not only how to live but to die with courage and grace. He approached cancer and his mortality with bravery and a candour that is open and inspiring. He taught us so much.
The family expresses sincere thanks to the team of doctors and nurses at Princess Margaret and the Temmy Latner Centre, and the many friends and family who have provided love and support.
The family welcomes friends of Brian at the Humphrey Funeral Home A. W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) on Tuesday, June 26th from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in Rosedale United Church, Toronto (Glen Road and Roxborough) on Thursday, June 28th at 2:00 p.m.
If desired, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care. Condolences, photographs and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymilesnewbigging.com.
