Brian Pearson was one of my first and most special friends in life. My mother called him "Nervous". She called him that name because EVERY morning he would phone and tell me that he was coming by my house on Rose Park Drive to walk with me to school. When Brian arrived at our house, he would patiently (though perhaps "nervously") pace our front hall, waiting for me to get ready. He was not actually nervous but he really had nothing else to do except make conversation with my mother. We shared the experience of going to school together for years: first to Whitney and then to Deer Park. Occasionally we hung out at each other's house, listening to our latest Elton John acquisition, playing street hockey, and continuing the conversations of youth. He was a good man in the best possible way: a true and loyal friend. We went separate directions in high school and thereafter. But reading about his life now, I am not surprised that so many other people found him to be a true and remarkable person. It also does not surprise me that he was a success at RBC; and it also does not surprise me that he came to his senses, followed his true passion and established his own brewery. A model human being.
