Obituary of Rose Hilmer

ROSE HILMER

October 15, 1937 – June 5, 2018

Peacefully, in her sleep surrounded by her children, Chris, Mike and Rich.  Loving wife of the late Henry Hilmer of Cambridge, ON.  Devoted mother-in-law of Jim, Natashia and Zita.  Doting grandmother of Cole, Imogen and Cameron.  Dear sister of Lil Katheder and Evi Zeh of Germany and the late Resi Byrdsong of Washington, DC.  Cherished aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Rose was a passionate gardener.  Her large garden in Cambridge featured over 300 plant species, and she could identify all of them by their English, German and Latin names.  After moving to Toronto in 2006, Rose created and continuously expanded the gardens of her extended family.  She provided gardening advice to friends and strangers alike.

The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 8^th.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 9^th at 2:00 p.m. followed by a reception.  Interment to occur at a later date.  Condolences, photographs and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymilesnewbigging.com.
