Rose's Gardens We had the privilege of visiting Rose's large garden oasis in Cambridge where we couldn't help but marvel at the loving and tender yet firm hand that created it. There was a second garden she nurtured and tendered in Chris and Jim's backyard. In that garden, there is a tree that was only supposed to grow so high, but now towers their house. As Rose put it, it must be because it's so happy to be where it is. Its beautiful tri-coloured leaves overhang our back porch and we've been asked often whether we want it trimmed back. Our answer has always been no, because it symbolizes to us, something that quietly, but cheerfully overcame expectations to stand tall and spread it's calming shade to include our house. We will miss Rose, but her gardens will always remind us of the happy feelings it brought her and to all of us who continue to be enriched by them. Angel and Rosita

Aunt Rosie was so warm and welcoming. She always took time to speak to us, share from her heart, and wish us the best in life. When expecting our only child, she looked at me and said it will be a girl - she was the only one who was right! That was many years ago and the warmth of her smile that day still fills my heart. We are very sorry to hear of the passing of Rose Hilmer. She has been part of our life for 11 years now - chatting on walks home from school or while watching her grandchildren (Imogen and Cole) play with Cameron and Quintin. It was lovely to watch her joy and love for Imogen and Cole and I enjoyed learning about gardening from her too. Many times she was happy to help out with my children and enjoyed getting together for tea with my Mom (Margaret) too. We are happy to have had the pleasure of her company and will miss her greetings at after school pick up. She has certainly contributed to the world some great people in her children and grandchildren. The Thorpe/Cairns family (Nicole, Roger, Cameron, Quintin and Margaret)
