Hello Martin and Family,
Noreen and I are so sorry that we are unable to attend the reception honouring Jo's memory. We have a conflict with our eldest granddaughter's 17th birthday party on that afternoon.
Jo was a one-of-the-kind teacher at Howard. I had the privilege of working with her first as a Consultant and then as the Vice-Principal when we moved into the "new" Howard.
Jo was a wonderful teacher, setting high expectations for her students.She expected the very best from her students and always held them accountable for their actions, be they good or bad. She had a great influence on all her learners. In addition, parents wanted her as their children's teacher.
She also enjoyed a good laugh, when appropriate. She, along with the late Nancy Hilliard, were a fun twosome on staff. The two of them were very much alike in their high standards and had difficulty dealing with those who didn't meet THEIR standards!
It was indeed an honour to know Jo, to work closely with her, and to get together socially with her and Martin in the days after teaching.
