Obituary of Paul Carson Rowney
PAUL CARSON ROWNEY
Passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 81 years of age. Loving husband to Patricia (pre-deceased) for 34 years, Paul was a larger than life husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Proud brother of Jim (Win) and Janet (Glen), he was surrounded his whole life by loving children, step-children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Wendy and Ted (Emiko), Cathy (Bob), David (Holly) and Stephen (Karen), Caitlin (Jordan), Lauren (Janus), Olivia, Claire, Lucy, AJ, Chesney, Poppy, David and Devlin.
Paul dedicated his entire life to education. From his own studies at the University of Toronto, OISE, and culminating with a Masters in Arts from Columbia University in New York City, Paul had a long and storied career at the Toronto District School Board, as a Teacher, Principal and Director of Heritage Language programs. In his retirement, he was also a proud member of the Toronto Choristers. His early passion for the family cottage on Gull Lake in Minden, Ontario, led to Paul’s true hobby- Ontario and Toronto history. He would engage anyone with stories about Toronto neighborhoods, history of the back roads and Ghost Towns of Ontario, and was proud in retirement to call Leaside his home.
The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES – NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 8th and from 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 9th followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m. Condolences, photographs and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com
