Obituary of Judith Helen Mills

MILLS, Judith Helen

Peacefully, in her 79th year on Monday, December 18, 2017, in the company of her family, at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre after a brief time with cancer.  Daughter of the late Robert G. and Mary Leckey.  Predeceased by her beloved husband George, partner Douglas Peters, and brother Robert.  She will be mourned by her sister-in-law Catherine, niece Amelia (Mark Bailey) and children Corbin, Parker, and Paige, and nephew Robert (José Navas), and by her many friends.  A retired English teacher, Judith is remembered by students for her love of literature, rigour, and dedication to their flourishing.  She loved the theatre and music and contributed generously to artistic and other charitable organizations.  After George’s death ended their marriage of nearly 50 years, Judy found new life in six years with Doug.  Memorial service at the Cathedral Church of St. James, 65 Church Street, on Saturday, January 13 at 2:00 p.m.  Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Primate’s World Relief & Development Fund or a charity of your choice.  Condolences, photographs and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymilesnewbigging.com.
