Obituary of Terry Daryl Couttie

COUTTIE, Terry Daryl

Following a short courageous struggle with cancer, Terry passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017.  Beloved husband of 40 years to Liz and loving father to David.  Predeceased by his parents Roy and Mary Couttie and sister Debra Base.  He leaves behind sisters Sherry (Aidan Griffin), Cathy (Bernard Klasen), brother David (Lynn Walraven) and brother-in-law Doug Lunau.  Adored uncle to Jeffery (Maureen), Matthew (Kim), Mackenzie, Liam, Aidan Jr., Michaela, and Ella.

Terry enjoyed a 25-year career with Loblaw Companies, retiring as a Vice President.  He continued his work in the food industry, consulting in Canada, the USA and South America.  He served as a board member of Moorelands Community Services and Islington Golf Club.

A lifelong learner, Terry approached new challenges with focus and determination.  He strived for excellence in all of his endeavours.  Terry enjoyed golf at Islington Golf Club (Toronto) and West Bay Golf Club (Estero, Florida).  Duplicate bridge became a passion in retirement.  Terry was a dedicated runner; rain or shine Terry would meet his buddies Bill, Ian and Larry for a run, coffee and most importantly companionship.  Family and friends were central to Terry’s life.  He loved gathering people for dinner and cocktails.

Many thanks to Dr. Aaron Hansen and the staff at Princess Margaret.
