I am so sad to just hear of the passing of Sharon. She was a big part of my coaching life at Western and my first National Champion coached. She made me look like I knew what I was doing. Our relationship was tumultuous but yet so much sarcasm and fun and then she walked away into another life when she graduated with so much potential to come. She was so smart and so physically gifted. We would cross paths decades later too briefly but I heard her laugh before I saw her face and knew immediately I have spent my last 40 coaching years looking to find another Sharon.

To Jamie and the Lane family. I had the pleasure of working with Sharon at CBRE in the early 90's. She was not a "fading Violet", but someone who embraced life to the fullest, cherished her friendships, a ton of fun and so talented. It was an honour and pleasure to have known her. Sharon was a marvellous and true friend to many. A light has gone out in the world but we have her spirit with us and her laughter to remember well. May we all live as generously, fully and without limit as she did. A gregarious, compassionate, thoughtful and intuitive soul, not to mention great fun and such wonderful company to have around. The life of the party. Happy to lead and happy to go along, wherever the winding adventure took us. Fond memories of hanging out on the man couch, walks with the doggies in the ravine, quiet times, and not so quiet times at the bars with lots of wine and less food :) and always heaps of laughter and merriment. Dear Sharon we loved you, and you are so dearly missed. Keep with us. My love to you, Maddie

I met Sharon through my sister Debby Selke. The world has lost a wonderful person who was full of fun the few times we played golf and enjoyed dinner. At such a young age it's even harder for loved ones to accept but it really is true that only the good die young. RIP Sharon and I truly hope her friends and family can find some peace and love in memories if Sharon.

I spent too many hours to count on the track with Sharon, usually watching her flash by me about 5 meters out of the starting blocks! She was an amazing athlete and an inspiring role model. It’s hard to think of a bright light like hers going out. God speed, Sharon.

Dear Sharon:
It wasn't until near the end of the Western MBA program that I got to know you a little bit. I thought you were a wonderful girl - very welcoming and friendly.
Years later we would run into each other now and then in the Underground and do a quick catch-up. I recall seeing you having lunch one day on your own. I joined you. You told me how you had a done law degree years before. I remember being so surprised. Only to do the same thing myself years later. You must have planted a seed.
You were a risk taker and I admired that. You had the smarts and the guts to be able to turn on a dime and meet whatever challenges you encountered in life.
This Mother's Day, I will be thinking of your mother and daughter. I cannot imagine their profound pain in losing such a beautiful daughter and mother as you.

I am deeply saddened by the news of Sharon's illness and passing. We shared a friendship at Western in the 1970's and I was certain that our paths would cross again soon in retirement. It is uncanny that I was hosting a "Meet and Greet" for the 40th reunion of Western Gymnasts on Saturday April 29, 2017. I actually displayed Sharon's picture that day and mentioned her in a Western trivia question period. I remember so many funny moments with Sharon in the anatomy lab, long study nights and track practice sessions in JWLittle Stadium and Thompson Arena. Sharon was a witty, fun, talented and very generous friend. My deepest sympathy is extended to her family and friends. We lost a bright light on Saturday.
I'm sorry that our reunion has been taking place in Florida, and I will not be back to Canada in time for Sharon's service. My thoughts will be with you. Today I released white and purple flowers into the ocean in her memory. Peace be with you my friend. Love Hil

Sharon - I will miss you terribly. Your precious soul is in a better place but has left the world a less happy place. Your brilliant smile, your infectious laugh, your indomitable spirit all will be missed by me and so many others. You were always generous to a fault and a devoted mother and true friend and neighbor. I wish you well in this transition from this life into the next and will end this tribute not with good bye but until we meet again.

Sharon was a friend with my parents and I have not seen her in many years. However, I have some wonderful memories from spending time with her and Jamie at Thunder Beach and the Blackmore's pig roast when I was younger. Those memories and her vibrant personality will stay with me.
