Obituary of Lorie Brooks Davis

With heavy hearts we say goodbye to Lorie who passed away at Hill House Hospice in Richmond Hill with her treasured husband at her side.  Loving wife of Donald Davis.  Daughter of Karl and Evelyn Kreuter of Ruthven.  Sister of Elaine (Noble) Fox.  Stepmother to Bill, Wendy and Greg.  Aunt of Irene, Steven, Alan (Irene) Fox and great-aunt of Megan and Allyson Fox.  Grandmother to Lindsey Davis, Krystyna Davis, Grant Clarke, Adrienne Clarke, Victoria Zangari and Catherine Wilson, and great-grandmother to three beautiful great-grandchildren.

Lorie graduated from Ryerson’s fashion department with flying colours and was a mentor to many other young enterprising students.  During her career, Lorie was regularly featured in most Canadian fashion newspapers and magazines, including U.S. ones.  She won many design awards, from both Canadian and Ontario governments, including Judy and Eedee.  While at the employ of one of these Canadian companies, Lorie designed and personally fitted all contestants taking part in the “Miss Canada Pageant.”  Lorie travelled the world designing even her own fabrics which she turned into ‘bathing suit, beachwear and loungewear’ masterpieces, making sure that the particular print would favour all types of figures and not enhance their personal perceived disadvantages.  As a matter of fact, Lorie was often referred to as the “swimsuit engineer” because of her ability to manage to make the best, and most, of what she was given to work with.  Lorie was a fierce, loyal friend and employee who would stand up and defend anyone criticizing either.

Her husband Don, teasingly referred to as The Don, was her cherished love.  Introduced to each other by a long-time friend, Monique, who saw this would be an enviable relationship which lasted over 30 years.  Lorie will be greatly missed for her love and her compassion.  She was a treasure that will live forever in our hearts, minds and soul.  Our thanks to Dr. Chin K. Chung and the rest of the magnificent caregivers at Hill House Hospice.  A service was held at an earlier date.  If desired, a donation to The Hill House Hospice, 36 Wright Street Richmond Hill, Ontario, L4C 4A1 would be greatly appreciated.  Condolences, photographs and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymilesnewbigging.com.
