Obituary of G. Earle Wight
It is with a sad heart that we announce the passing of Earle Wight on Monday, April 17, 2017, five weeks shy of his 84th birthday. He struggled with multiple health challenges, including living for six years with one lung. He has peacefully gone to a better place. Earle leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Sonia Roberton Wight, sons Ric (Marilou) and Peter (Robin), grandchildren Tori, Lisa, Alexa & and Michael, and sister Cynthia Joan Rossano.
Earle was born in Montreal May 27, 1933 to Dr. G. Earle Wight and Lucille King Wight. His early years were spent at L.C.C., McGill and Dalhousie. He married Sonia on September 17, 1955. He worked for the Hooper Holmes Bureau for some 60 years and was a Director of numerous companies. Earle was an avid golfer and member of The Toronto Hunt Club, the Laurentien Golf & Country Club and R.U.M.P.S. He was a sailor, an avid reader, a bridge enthusiast and had a passion for travel and good art. He loved their cottage at Ste. Agathe des Monts. He was a gentle giant of a man. He was always there for those who needed him. He is loved and will be greatly missed by all.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre for their care and treatment.
A Celebration of Life will be held at THE TORONTO HUNT CLUB, (1355 Kingston Road, Scarborough) on Thursday, April 20th at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sunnybrook Palliative Care Unit would be greatly appreciated. A second Celebration of Life will be held for his Laurentian & Montreal friends this summer on a date to be determined.
