Obituary of Ann Linda Mitchell

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Ann Linda Mitchell at Kensington Hospice on Wednesday April 12, 2017. Born in Liverpool, U.K., she left home aged 17 to study nursing at Guy's Hospital, London, followed by an intensive nursing course in Cambridge. She moved to Montreal, Canada to work in the emergency department at the Children's Hospital. Whilst living and working in Montreal she obtained a B.A. in English at McGill University. In her late thirties she decided to change career and study law. She completed the national program at McGill Law School obtaining a Bachelor of Common Law degree as well as a Bachelor of Civil Law degree. She moved to Toronto and articled at Gowling, Strathy & Henderson. She joined Bell Temple in 1999, using her medical knowledge and experience in the Medical Malpractice Health Discipline Group. She mentored many junior lawyers who have all remained as close friends. She worked until August 2015 when she fell ill. Ann was interested in English History and was an avid theatre, ballet and opera fan. She read widely and loved Bob Dylan music, whom she saw in concert many times. She had a wicked sense of humour, loved entertaining, gardening and enjoyed fine wine and food. Ann was an immensely generous person who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Ann's family is grateful to the doctors, nurses and volunteers at Kensington Hospice for their compassionate and dignified care. The family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life service on Monday 17, April, 2017 at 3:00p.m. at Humphrey Funeral Home, 1403 Bayview Avenue, Toronto M4G 3A8 In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations may be made to the Kensington Foundation on their website to help Kensington Hospice continue their loving and dignified care, or to a charity of your choice. The family appreciate all the good wishes received.
