Obituary of Rose Veronica Mackie
Rose Veronica Mackie nee Omilianouski/Andrachuk
March 23, 1923 – March 26, 2017
An orphan from infancy, Rose spent her early years in institutions and sanitariums, suffering from tuberculosis and polio. She was adopted by the Andrachuk family, who provided her first real home, something that she remembered until the very end. Rose married George Alexander Mackie in 1949, and the devoted couple raised three sons, Christopher (Andrea Rothfischer), Andrew and David. She will be fondly missed by her grandchildren Andrew and Megan. As part of the Ontario Hydro community, the family lived in Timmins, Parry Sound, Little Long Rapids and Simcoe, before settling back in Toronto. The heart of the family, practical and loving, Rose was a force to be reckoned with, and doted on her family. She will be terribly missed by all who knew her. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES – NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue in Toronto) at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4th. A reception will take place following the service. If you wish, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, 1599 Hurontario Street, Suite #201, Mississauga L5G 4S1 (www.kidney.ca).
