Obituary of Katharine Labatt Jarvis Blair

After an incredible life, filled with adventures, challenges, successes and sorrows, a dear wife (Stan), mother (Barb/James, Chris/Marcie, Tuppy/Ron), sister (Alan, Graham, JoAnna), aunt (David/Wendy, Peter/Mary Beth, Suzanne/Charlie, Sandra/Ian, Matt/Kristen, Lex/Vivian), and grandmother (Alycia, Gregory, Blair, Stephanie), Kitty passed quietly in her sleep at Toronto Western Hospital on Sunday, leaving us as gracefully as she lived her entire life.. Kitty was a remarkable woman in every possible sense of the word. Born in Toronto 82 short years ago, and raised in New York, she moved to Canada with her three children in 1962 and met her soulmate in Stan Blair, and the rest as they say, is history. With the arrival of their youngest Tuppy, everyone knew life at York Valley would never be the same as this bundle of joy helped ease the sorrow of a dearly departed son, Alan at the tender age of 6. Kitty travelled the world, marveled at its’ beauty and never ceased to be amazed by the glory of it all. An avid golfer for many years, she mentored each and every one of us to give freely, love deeply and live passionately and she will be dearly missed by all. The family would like to thank all her doctors over the years who helped her fight on many fronts, and encouraged her to never give up hope. The nursing staff at Toronto Western, 3B Fell Wing were loving and attentive in her final days as Kitty fought to regain her strength during a vigilant battle with COPD. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES – NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) on Friday, March 31st from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Funeral services for Kitty will be held in the chapel on Saturday, April 1st at 10:30 a.m. If desired, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario in memory of Katharine Jarvis Blair, www.heartandstroke.ca.
