One day way back in 2010 while working on the Scatcherd family trees out here in California, I received an email from one Kitty Blair in Toronto, praising me to the high heavens for the genealogical work I had done on her family tree. I really did not know where she fit into all this, being a Blair, but I soon found out Kitty’s mother, Margaret Biddulph was a Scatcherd.
Little did I know at that time that Kitty would become a great friend and THE go to person for the Scatcherd, Labatt and Jarvis pages of my website. I cannot begin to relate the contribution she made to the effort, but from 2010 thru late 2016 we exchanged over 600 emails where she flushed out many a detail on relatives, attached rare, old pictures, and at the same time, sent along internet jokes and current events which tipped off the great conservatism we had in common.
In addition, she introduced my wife and me to the Seavys here in California, famous for their fine wines, after which gift bottles from Kitty showed up at our doorstep from time to time. She also sent Labatt ball caps to my brother (co-worker on the Trees) and me and many parcels of paperwork stuffed with genealogical gems. Then came an autographed book from Arthur Labatt himself and a fully fleshed out Jarvis Family Tree from the honorable David Jarvis. Then there was the exclusive Labatt Xmas party pictures that she shook loose from Western Ontario U’s collection. It just went on and on.
Sadly, I never met Kitty face to face, but I felt like family nonetheless. Even more sadly, I did not know she was sick and should have been suspicious when her emails dried up in late 2016. That was not like her but I figured she was probably traveling somewhere to visit Tuppy or maybe to play a little golf. Im going to miss her terribly, and feel bad that I’m just now discovering her obit.

So sorry to hear about Kitty. She always found time to greet me (another Palace Pier long-timer), and just a few months ago she made a point of paying me a compliment that made me feel good about myself -- more than she'd ever know. Kitty had a way of doing that -- making people feel good about themselves. She obviously touched a great many people in her gentle and gracious way. My condolences to the family.

Dearest Kitty,
Our hearts are filled with gratitude having had you in our lives as dear friends these past 30 years.
Who could have imagined from that first chance encounter in La Quinta, that we would have experienced so many memorable moments with you and Stan.

I have many connections to Kitty, most importantly my great friendship to her daughter Barb. But Kitty was a proud Jarvis and we always had so many things to reminisce about. There was never a dull moment when I had a chance to sit down with her, whether it was talking about her brothers, Graham, who I had a chance to spend time with in California, or her brother Alan who was a terrific Godfather, or simply just all of the other Jarvis connections. She was always genuinely interested in what I was doing and how I was doing and I appreciated every minute that I got to spend with her and will miss the opportunities that might have been. She will be greatly missed by many.

Our hearts go out to you all. Kitty was always a presence in our lives, even though we were thousands of miles away. When we took Avery up to visit for the Jarvis reunion, she showered our baby girl with love. Facebook helped her keep tabs on the kids, which she did. She loved watching our family grow and made sure to let us know. She showered her generosity on us, contributing to Avery's future education. We loved hearing all her Graham stories and will miss her so much.

Kitty was a special person in our life. We have so many great memories of the times we spent together with Kitty and Stan. We first met on the golf course(imagine that) in St. Kitts when we asked them to join us. This led to golf trips to Quail Hollow in Ohio and to Orlando Florida and numerous other golf outings . We were also together for many lunches,dinners and special occasions. Our kids still fondly remember the year the three of you came to our home in Oakville for Christmas dinner. Kitty was always bubbly and glass three quarters full. Everybody laughed with her and sometimes at her.
Kitty, a beautiful wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
We will really miss her.
