Fran and I became friends when we both worked at the North York Board of Education in the mid 60's. Our friendship was cemented when we both lived in Vancouver in the late 60's. Even though we have never again lived in the same province our friendship continued and we never lost touch. She was always a very good friend. I will miss her. Chris and Tim even though I never met you Fran described you as wonderful sons. Your lives were enriched by a wonderful mother and I know that you will carry on creating a loving and peaceful country. Darlene (Welton) Stone

My enduring memory of Fran will be that of a kind, gentle, compassionate, loving person. Indeed, when I think of Fran, I am reminded of the biblical passage recited by Franciscans before and after every meal: "God is love, and whosoever abides in love Abides in God and God abides in her/him." It is, to me, a very hopeful thing that the qualities I associate with Fran - qualities that she lived and exemplified so we'll, are but a subset of the unending beauty that awaits us all if we, as was the case with Fran, allow ourselves to be drawn to them. I am grateful to God for having graced us with her presence all these many years. John

Dear Timothy, Christopher, Shawne & family: Our sincere condolences & deepest sympathy on the loss of your wonderful Mother! Death of a loved one is never easy but there should be some Joy in celebrating a generous, meaningful & fruitful life, and in knowing that while here on earth, Frances influenced so many students, teachers & administrators with her kindness, caring, giving & Professionalism. She will be sadly missed! To paraphrase St Paul: the time for her departure has come, she has fought the good fight, she has finished the race, she has kept the Faith & now she has reaped her reward. May she rest in peace! Regretfully we were not able to attend the Wake nor the Funeral Mass. However our love, thoughts & prayers are with you in spirit. God bless you in the difficult days ahead! Theresa Ravanello-Wharton (former Chief Social Worker MSSB) & Paul R Wharton (former Asst. Director of Education MSSB)

Dear Chris, We only got to meet your mom once, at your wedding. She was so very proud of you. It sounds like she accomplished a lot during her life, not the least of which was the raising of her children. Our hearts are with you. May you find strength in family and friends.

Dear Chris and Tim, We are shocked at the unexpected demise of your dear Mom, and deeply saddened at the loss of our friend Fran. Our hearts go out to you. Although we did not see each other often, we got together regularly every few weeks or so, and spent many happy hours with her and your Dad, Bill. We will treasure these memories. Peter and Jo

Dear Chris, I'm very sorry to hear about your mom. I just lost mine 2 months ago, she was the exact same age as yours. I know how difficult that is. She'll always be there with you, and take as much time as you need to heal. Take care!

Dear Timothy and Christopher: We were very sorry to hear/read about your mother's death. Shocked, actually. But she is now with her beloved husband, your father, William. Please accept our most heartfelt condolences. Unfortunately we will not be able to be in Toronto for the service as we will be in Montreal. But we will be with you and think of you in spirit. Love, Mary and Manfred.

I am deeply sorry for your loss of your Mom. Losing someone so close leaves a very empty space in our life. Please know that you are never alone. God promises that he will be near to those who are crushed and broken at heart. One of the ways he is near is through his promise of a resurrection. Jesus demonstrated this when he resurrected the man Lazarus. This example is found in the Bible at John Chapter 11. He performed this resurrection to show us what he will do in the near future for our own loved ones who have fallen asleep in death. May God himself grant you great peace and comfort now during this difficult time.

With heartfelt sadness, I am sharing my sincere condolences on the passing of your mother. May you find solace with these words, “Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us everyday”, as we all remember Fran. I had the pleasure to work with Fran, as an APT – Assessment and Programming Teacher with TCDSB. She was my as well as other APT assessment and teaching mentor, teacher and colleague for many years. She was a kind, professional, caring, compassionate, respectful, knowledgeable, keen listener, personable and highly supportive of the teacher and psychology partnership in the realm of special education services shared. I consider her to be one of my most respected mentors and I valued every time we worked together as we discussed a student’s assessment profile. She always ensured that the shared recommendations of assessment findings would meet the learning, social and emotional needs of the student. She was a champion for the student who had learning struggles but also championed APTS who worked with them. What I remember the best and with such fondness, was our personal conversations, and how we shared mutual likes of books, movies, afternoon tea and our Northern Ontario roots. She was a Timmins girl and I was a Kirkland Lake girl. It just wasn’t a work relationship, it was a warm friendship. Thank you Fran and your legacy will now live on in your sons, grandchildren, grand pets, colleagues and friends.
