Obituary of Joan Woodrow
WOODROW, JOAN MARIE (1951 - 2016)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joan Woodrow, beloved wife of the late Michael Butters, mother to Timothy and Kathryn Butters, sister of Robert Brian Woodrow (Olga) and aunt to Kevin Woodrow (Olga Tsianos). Joanie left the world peacefully on Saturday, April 24, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She will be remembered for her unwavering spirit, tireless dedication to her friends and loved ones, and the beautiful perspective she had on the world.
Joanie was an inspiring mother to Katy and Tim, providing love and guidance as they transitioned into adulthood. Together they enjoyed trips across the globe, games night at home, and musings on the intricacies of life. She also cherished her relationships and developed a vast network of close friends. Whether with the Clementines and crew, Crimps, Hydroids, or Comm-Canners and Feds, Joanie took great pleasure in sharing laughs and creating memories with those closest to her.
She was also an intrepid traveller. With Bear and Prent by her side, she could be found wine tasting in the vineyards of southern France, taking cooking lessons in the heart of Florence, enjoying the gentle sands of Siesta Key, or admiring the natural beauty of Prince Edward County (dubbed "Narnia"). No matter where she was, Joanie could feel at home on the shores and streets of other lands as much as her own.
While she has left the known world, Joanie now enters a new journey, hand-in-hand with Mikey. They're sailing amidst peaceful coves, with steady winds at their backs, and under a brilliant sun.
