Obituary of Kathryn Gooch
GOOCH, Kathryn (Kathy) M.
Suddenly at home on Thursday, April 7, 2016, beloved sister and aunt, Kathy passed away at age 61.
Predeceased by her parents, Reverend Canon Francis Gooch and Berniece Gooch, Kathy leaves behind to cherish her memory her brother David Nelson Gooch, his wife Cathy and nieces Megan (Jon) and Erin (Mark) of Winnipeg, Manitoba and her brother Peter Francis Gooch of Toronto, Ontario as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She will be sadly missed by many friends and work colleagues, especially her closest friend Margot Doey-Vick.
Kathy was a proud graduate of Ryerson Polytechnical Institute, obtaining her degree in Radio/Television Arts. Kathy began her professional career as a journalist with CKSO Radio/Television and as a producer for CBC Radio in Sudbury. After enjoying her work in communications, for than 25 years Kathy served as Senior Political Staff to an Ontario Member of Provincial Parliament, a Federal Member of Parliament and a City of Toronto Councillor.
Kathy had many outside interests: she was an avid reader and her collection of books could rival a small library. Kathy also loved to travel and had seen many beautiful, interesting and enriching places around the world. Her most special trips were to spend many happy hours with her nieces Megan and Erin. Kathy was proud of her family and was actively documenting and writing the Gooch/Baird family history.
The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES - NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, April 15th and from 10:00 a.m. until the celebration of life in the chapel begins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 16th. Honorary bearers are her brothers David and Peter, her cousins, John, Elizabeth, Mike, Sylvia, Stephen and Angela. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in Kathy's memory, to your favourite charity. Condolences and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymilesnewbigging.com.
