Carol Soden Stewart

Obituary of Carol McManus Soden Stewart

CAROL McMANUS SODEN STEWART Carol, oldest daughter of Percy Napier Soden OBE and Pearl Violet Alice Larrivée, born in Montreal, June 26, 1926, left this earth, in search of answers she could not find on this planet, on Sunday, January 17, 2016. Carol is survived by her beloved husband Ian Gordon Stewart; loving sister Barbara Jane Soden Brooks (Samuel Brooks); daughters Penelope Ann Stewart (Jean-Guy Haché), Wendy Heather Stewart (David Pitson), and Heather Ann Stewart; grandchildren Christian Simon James Stewart (Kanako Tani), Hayley Erin Stewart, Lesley Aidan Pitson, and Christine Meredith Pitson aka Kiki; and one really "super cute" great-grandchild Ayana Lulu Tani Stewart. Carol was a voracious reader - mysteries especially; a lover of music - all sorts; and an artist - particularly Norwegian folk art, Rosemåling. She was an avid traveller, over 100 countries. She was an expert at moving and resettling the family, living in Montreal and Toronto in Canada, Walton-on-Thames and London in England, and in Chicago in the U.S. Every move was an adventure, even when driving on the left-side of the road. She was always curious, completing Sudoku puzzles regularly with ease, and was notorious for making friends wherever she was. With a warm and generous spirit, although she could be feisty and outspoken, she was loved by her family, who already miss her. And now we wish we had written down her recipe for macaroni and cheese. Many thanks to the doctors and staff at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center who worked so very hard to heal her. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES - NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) on Wednesday, January 20th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a service in the chapel on Thursday, January 21st at 1:00 p.m. Condolences and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymilesnewbigging.com.
