Obituary of Ann Scrivener

SCRIVENER, Ann (nee Coulthard) Peacefully, at the Toronto Grace Hospital, on Monday, February 25th, in her 76th year, of lung and brain cancer. Ann was the beloved wife of Alan for 47 years, treasured mother to Julie, Michael and Martha Haynes (Brad), and adored "Grannie Annie" to Olivia, Georgia and Thomas Haynes. A gifted painter (OCA '54) into her final year and Kiwanis Festival violin first prize winner, Ann worked as an advertising copywriter, and in consumer research at Procter & Gamble, where she met Alan in 1954. Ann travelled extensively and lived for three years in Italy, where Julie was born. While raising her family in Toronto, Ann spent many happy times enjoying tennis and coffee with her chums at the Toronto Lawn Tennis Club. She will be remembered for her humility, putting others first, her unfailing sense of fair play, devotion to her family and an inability to overlook any grammatical errors. Special thanks to the many caring supporters in the Toronto medical community (doctors, nurses and staff) at Princess Margaret, Western (9th floor Orthopedic), Grace (Palliative Care) and CCAC Home Care and Dr. Evelyne Baimel, Ann's G.P. Close friends were exceptionally helpful, loving and kind. At Ann's request, there was a private cremation. A reception will take place from 2-4 p.m. on Friday, February 29, at the Toronto Lawn Tennis Club, 44 Price Street, Toronto, 416-922-1105. Public parking on Price Street. If desired, please consider a donation in Ann's memory to one of the above medical organizations.
