Obituary of Shirley Chetty
July 8, 1935 – May 18, 2023
Shirley passed away peacefully at the Extendicare Rouge Valley Home in Scarborough, at the age of 87. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Reginald Chetty (2015).
Born in Mahiacony, Guyana, Shirley was a loving mother to her 6 children: Latchmi Old (Peter) of the UK, Sandra Henriques (Norman) of Florida, Patrick, (Angela) of Keswick, Frederick (Annie) of Guyana, Ann Chetty of California and Derick of Toronto. She was the loving sister of Sydney, Merlyn, the late Doreen and the late Bertie.
She will be lovingly remembered by her 9 grandchildren; Adam and Anjuli; Mark and Claude; Chris, Jonathon and Timothy; Ryan and Roberto. And her 10 great-grandchildren; Leo and Trea; Jonathan, Joshua and Chrys; Carter and Brooklin; Andrew and Olivia; Dimitri. Also her 2 great-great grandchildren; Alanyss and Lukah.
Shirley was an entrepreneur, a creative spirit, a social butterfly and avid traveller. She was full of life and laughter, easily made friends and opened her heart and home to many.
The family would like to thank the staff and care-givers, both at Town Haven Place and Rouge Valley, who provided support and compassionate care during the last few years of her life.

Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville) in Toronto on Saturday, May 27th.
