Lesley, David and I were so very saddened to learn of John’s death. We remember wonderful conversations with the two of you and of course, I remember many, many business discussions with John, most of which wound up in laughter.
He was fun, salty, hard working and smart which combined with his honesty and integrity, made him a great business colleague.
His obituary was obviously written with a great deal of love which is a huge testament to his life.
Our deepest sympathy to you and your family as you share memories and stories of John. Those memories will surely give you strength in the days ahead.

Whenever we saw John at the lake or the Granite, he always had an interesting story to tell about his latest venture, interspersed with lots of jokes. John was gregarious, sincere, enjoyable to be around, and we will miss him.
It is so true, as stated in the obit, his response to how he was doing. He would always say “ all the better for seeing you”, and you know he meant it!
Our sympathies and prayers to Lesley and family.

Very saddened to hear of John’s passing. He was a good friend and business mentor who gave me my first leg up in business when he promoted me to Controller at Markborough Properties at a very young age.
Intelligent, witty and a man of impeccable integrity, I will remember him fondly for the rest of my days as someone I always looked up to and trusted. A firm yet gentle giant. May you rest in peace John, after a very full and meaningful life.
My sincerest condolences to Lesley and family and to all those whom John has left behind.

It was a very sad day when I learned of John's passing. He was both a good friend and a great mentor, as well as a fun golfing partner. He was a man of extraordinary integrity, who would always provide support, encouragement and advice when needed. Deepest condolences to Lesley and family. I hope you can find some solace in knowing how much John was respected by all those around him.

John was my team leader at Wittington for years. Generous with his knowledge and wit, he was a mentor and singular personality in the business. He loved real estate, mining, golf, wine and family - not in that order - and managed to combine real estate and golf to great advantage. Condolences to Lesley and the family. John will enliven the pearly gates with stories and his raucous laughs.

We were greatly saddened to hear that John lost his valiant battle after such a strong fight…..your obituary described him so well ……the warm heart under a rather gruff exterior, the raucous laugh, the witty asides - often under his breath - and his overwhelming pride and love for his family ……….we have made a donation in John’s memory to Dr. Keshavjee’s research fund in the hope that his work can prevent another family from experiencing a loss like yours……… our sincerest condolences to the whole Brough family ……may God bless John in the hereafter ……Phil & Ava
